Read Languages is a B...This is an interesting post. Read Languages is a BECMI spell whereas its cognate in AD&D is Comprehend Languages. Yet Gygax retained Read Languages as a high-level skill for thieves. We adapted Basic and Expert D&D modules to our AD&D campaigns back in the day, but I don’t recall anyone ever using Comprehend Languages.
